Mobile: Shifts manager

Case study

The focus of this design was to ease the process a Store managers was going through for finding an employee that could take an open shift as easy and fast as possible.

An open shift gets released by the web version of the system, and is available to be requested by all employees within a predefined geographical area. Any employee can show interest in a particular shift, but it is the Store manager’s responsibility to pick the person best suited for the shift, based on the employee’s work skills, location or working hours balance. This process requires time - time for the shift to be seen and time for responses to be collected. Still, time can be a critical factor if a sales person needs to show up at work on the next day.

The goal of this feature as part of the mobile application is to offer the Store manager an overview of all responses, as they occur, and assign a shift to an employee at the very same moment, without the need to sit in front of a computer.
